MY FIRST LOVE AFFAIR....With wool fabric! 🐑

This skirt and vest were my first projects sewing with wool fabric.

I made these two pieces for the main purpose of entering in the "Make It With Wool" contest. Wool can be challenging because there's more rules for how to iron it and it's expensive so you can't mess up.

I had to modify the shape of the shape of the skirt because I didn't quite have enough fabric. The skirt was also challenging because of the "one way" print. I wanted the lines of the plaid to line up just right from the waistband (or yoke) to the skirt and also along the sides of the skirt.

The vest was pretty basic and I didn't modify the pattern. I should have though because the bust is a tad too big for me. I love the fabric and the buttons though.

(I did win my age group for the first round of the competition but didn't end up pursuing it further.)

At first I didn't like wearing the skirt because it ended up being a weird length on me. However, I decided that it was too valuable to not wear and now it is my most worn pieces! 💚🧡
