My sewing journey starting with....
My First Dress! 👗
First off, I was super surprised that I could squeeze into this dress (I couldn't button ALL the buttons). I made it when I was probably 15 from a commercial pattern and I didn't modify it at all.
The hardest part of making this dress was the facing for the arms and neck holes. They didn't make sense to me then.
This was also the first time I had to do button holes which wasn't too bad once I figured out how to attach all the attachments to my machine.
My favorite part was the classic simplicity of the dress and I'm still pleased with the finishes as they are still in good shape.🪡
The main lesson I learned from this dress was NOT to use star shaped buttons! These buttons look sooooo cute but are such a pain when trying to get them through the button hole. So I've never used anything but round buttons since.
What do you think? Does this dress read early 2000s to you?
